Leonurus japonicus is a plant of Labiatae. Its main active ingredients are alkaloids, including leonurine, stachydrine, leonuridine and leonurinine. Leonurus japonicus has a strong inhibitory effect on various bacteria, penicillium and yeasts, and also a photoprotective effect on keratinocytes, and inhibits the release of TNF-α and reduces apoptosis by regulating the expression of Bax/Bcl-2 protein. It further promotes collagen synthesis and repairs photoaged skin by increasing TGF-β1.
• Scavenges free radical, accelerates collagen synthesis and fibrocyte reproduction, prevents skin aging effectively;
• Inhibits broad spectrum bacteria, including various bacteria, penicillium and yeasts;
• Inhibits Tyrosinase viability, impairs melanin synthesis, and whitens the skin.
